Itinerary
DAY 1 LISBON
Booking into the 3* hotel in Lisbon. Dinner. Free evening.
DAY 2 LISBON
Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning, guided tour of Lisbon. Lunch. In the afternoon, a panoramic tour of Lisbon by coach. Nicknamed “The City of Lights ”, explore it through the Sao Jorge castle, surrounded by the medieval quarters of Alfama and Mouraria. Back to the hotel for dinner and accommodation. Free evening.
DAY 3 LISBON - COIMBRA - PORTO
Breakfast in the hotel. Departure by coach for Coimbra. Lunch. In the afternoon, your guide will show you around this charming city lapped by the waters of the Mandego with its confusion of narrow, picturesque streets, its cathedral, built in 1598, which offers a careful melange of Byzantine capitals, Gothic altarpieces and Renaissance chapels. Departure by coach for Porto. Boarding from 5:00 pm. Settling in your cabins. Our staff will introduce itself, and you will be served a welcome cocktail followed by your first dinner aboard. In the evening, optional visit of the illuminated Porto by coach.
DAY 4 PORTO - REGUA
After a buffet breakfast aboard, we will discover Porto (optional excursion) , Portugal ’s second largest town, as well as one of the most ancient towns in Europe : ancient areas which are kept intact, winding lanes , houses with archways,magnificent churches… Porto also represents the port wine with its vineyards along the Douro . We are going to visit one of the greatest cellars in Villa Nova de Gaia . You will have the opportunity to taste the wines. Then, we will go back to the ship to have lunch, start the cruise and admire the wonderful landscapes up to Regua . We will pass the locks of Crestuma and Carapatello (the highest in Europe : 35 meters). Arrival in Regua around 8:00 pm. Dinner aboard and evening with a folk group or walk by night in Regua.
DAY 5 REGUA - VEGA DE TERON Buffet breakfast aboard followed by the visit of Vila Real . Later on, we will leave for the most lovely walk (optional excursion) in the beautiful gardens of Solar de Mateus, and join the ship for lunch in Pinhao . For the others, the ship will start the cruise to Pinhao, where we will have lunch aboard.We are then going to cruise through the wonderful high hills, in the very heart of the most famous Porto vineyards, planted in stairs, up to 700 meters high.We will go through the lock of Valeria and will arrive in Vega de Teron in the evening. Dinner and “Spanish” themed evening.
DAY 6 VEGA DE TERON (excursion to Salamanca ) Breakfast on board. Departure for the optional excursion of Salamanca. This town is UNESCO World heritage site with its Roman, Arabic and Christian architectural treasures. Lunch in Salamanca . Back on board at Vega de Teron. Dinner and farewell evening.
DAY 7 VEGA DE TERON - PINHAO - REGUA - BITETOS Early cruise departure from Vega de Teron. Breakfast on board. While sailing, you will enjoy the wild landscapes. Lunch on board. We will reach Pinhao around 2:00 pm . Departure by coach for an optional visit of Lamego, during which you will discover the Nossa Senhora Dos Remedios sanctuary, the medieval castle, the church of Almacave and the Cathedral. The boat will sail towards Regua, where we will join it around 5:00 pm. Continuation of the cruise towards Bitetos. Dinner and traditional evening on board.
DAY 8 BITETOS - PORTO
Early in the morning, departure on cruise towards Porto. Lunch aboard. Disembarkation. End of our services.
