Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Passau, Germany (Embarkation)

Board the ship at 4:00pm and enjoy some time to settle comfortably in your cabins before meeting the crew. At 5.00pm we set off cruising along the Danube towards the border between Austria and Germany through the attractive region of Engelhartszell. A welcome cocktail reception will be organized on board before dinner. Evening on board.

Day 2: Passau  - Melk, Austria - Vienna

Arrive in Melk and breakfast on board before leaving on an optional excursion to the Benedictine Abbey of Melk which is perched up high on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube. It is the symbol of Austrian baroque at its finest. Return to the ship around 11.00am and sail on to Durnstein, arriving around 12.30pm. Lunch on board. Take time to explore this picturesque village, which is the most famous in the Wachau region thanks to the legend of King Richard the Lion Heart. Back on board around 3:30pm before cruising on to Vienna. Dinner on board before reaching our destination at around 8:30pm. Disembark and leave on an optional tour of the illuminated sights of Vienna. Overnight stop.

Day 3: Vienna - Esztergom

After breakfast, take part in the optional guided visit to the Palace of Schoenbrunn and Vienna, and its magnificent park, formerly the summer residence of the Emperor of Austria and his family. Lunch on board before enjoying a free afternoon to visit this magnificent city on your own. Back on board by 7:00pm before sailing on towards Budapest, passing Bratislava on the way. Dinner and evening on board.

Day 4 : Esztergom - Budapest, Hungary

We'll have breakfast on board before you go to visit Esztergom at your own pace. The city was the former capital of Hungary, under the reign of the Arpad kings. It is still a prominent town as it is the seat of the Hungarian archbishops. Esztergom is full of treasures with its neo-classic basilica and former Royal Palace. The boat departs around noon to arrive in Budapest around 4:00 p.m. The Hungarian capital, which lies along the banks of the Danube and is also known as the “pearl of the Danube”, is one of the most attractive cities in Europe. You'll enjoy some free time to explore the city on your own before returning on board for dinner. This evening you can join us for an optional visit of Budapest by night.

Day 5 : Budapest

You'll enjoy breakfast on board, then you'll have the day free, or you can join the morning optional sightseeing tour of the city. Budapest embodies the contrast between the twin cities of Buda and Pest, which were separate one from the other on each bank of the Danube before being reunited in 1872. Over the course of this guided tour, you will discover haughty Buda, with its winding streets, its Baroque palaces, its Turkish baths, and its royal palace from the Middle Ages. We will also visit bustling Pest, which offers a proud mixture of architectural styles. We will return on board for lunch. You'll enjoy a free afternoon to stroll in the city on your own, or you can join us for the optional tour of Szentendre, a charming little Hungarian town which lies on the banks of the Danube, to the north of Budapest. It was founded by Serbian colonists who settled there in the 17th century when fleeing from the Turks. However, there are traces of settlements dating as far back as the Neolithic period. We'll continue our visit to Skanzen, which has the largest open-air ethnographic museum in Hungary, spread over more than 113 acres. It recreates monuments from all over the country. We'll then return on board for dinner. After dinner, you'll have a free evening, or you can join us to attend an optional traditional folk evening in Budapest.

Day 6 : Budapest

You'll enjoy breakfast on board, and then you'll be free for the day (with lunch on your own), or you can join us for an optional day trip to the Puszta. We will return on board early in the evening for dinner.

Day 7: Budapest

You'll have breakfast on board, and you can enjoy the morning on your own in Budapest. We'll return on board for lunch, with the boat departing at 1:00 p.m. towards Bratislava. We'll cruise through the night and you'll enjoy dinner and evening's entertainment on board.

Day 8: Bratislava, Slovakia - Vienna

Arrive in Bratislava around 7:00am and breakfast on board before departing at 8:30am on an optional guided tour of the city. Dominated to the north by the slopes of the Southern tip of the Little Carpathians, bathed by the Danube, Bratislava enjoys a privileged position. The charms of the Slovakian capital are to be found essentially in its old quarters with their splendid baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares. Return to the ship for lunch before continuing on to reach Vienna by 8:00pm. Dinner on board then enjoy an evening at leisure.

Day 9 : Vienna

Breakfast on board followed by a free morning for individual sightseeing around Vienna. This imperial city, famous for its cathedral and opera house, is the cradle of Austrian music. Return to the ship for lunch. Choose a free afternoon, or, join the optional excursion to Hofburg to visit the former palace of the Habsburgs and admire the crown jewels and splendid imperial apartments. After dinner on board, take this wonderful opportunity to attend a concert of Viennese music (optional and subject to availability). The ship cruises on after midnight.

Day 10: Melk - Passau

Breakfast on board before cruising along the most beautiful stretch of the Wachau region to arrive in Melk around 9:00am. Depart by coach on an optional excursion to the quaint village of Durnstein. Return to the ship for lunch. In the afternoon, set off by coach on an optional excursion to the Abbey of Melk. Return to the ship before cruising off around 4:00pm towards Passau.
