The crew of your ship welcomes you aboard in Basel from 15.00hrs. After embarkation we offer a city tour in Basel before we cast off at 19.00hrs, when you have a chance to explore your floating hotel, before gathering for the Welcome Dinner.
Day 2 - Sunday: Strasbourg
We arrive in Strasbourg during the morning, where invite you to join our afternoon tour of the city, partly by coach and partly on foot. The city centre is a UNESCO Heritage Site, with its network of narrow streets and half-timbered houses, the River Ill and its canals and, above all, the Gothic Cathedral of the Virgin Mary. During the late evening we set sail for Speyer.
Day 3 - Monday: Heidelberg (from Speyer and re-embark in Worms) / Rüdesheim
After breakfast we make a brief stop in Speyer to disembark those taking the excursion to Heidelberg. Heidelberg is one of Germany’s loveliest cities with its blend of castle, old quarter and river, all embedded in the surrounding hills. It inspired poets and painters in the Romantic era and continues to fascinate the millions of visitors from all over the world. We rejoin the vessel in Worms around midday, before departing for Rüdesheim.
We arrive in Rüdesheim in the late afternoon, giving you chance, before Dinner, to visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet with its 350 automated musical instruments (bookable on board).
Day 4 - Tuesday: Treis-Karden / Koblenz / Winningen
We depart from Rüdesheim during the morning. We recommend you stay on the Sun Deck, so as not to miss this fascinating stretch of the Rhine, as we pass castles and ruins, idyllic villages and steep vineyards, as well as the mighty Loreley Rock, which has inspired so many artists and poets. During the afternoon we arrive in Treis-Karden, where we invite you to join the coach excursion along the Moselle Valley (bookable on board). The tour introduces you to the magical landscape of the Moselle with its attractive small towns. In the meantime the ship sails back to Koblenz / Winningen, where it anchors overnight.
Day 5 - Wednesday: Cologne
During the late morning we depart from Koblenz for Cologne, where we arrive during the afternoon. We offer a guided walk in Cologne, a cathedral city with a 2000 year history, which can be seen at many points in the city. The evening is at leisure in Cologne.
Day 6 - Thursday: Cologne / At leisure on board
During the morning you again have some time at leisure in Cologne, before we set sail at around midday to Nijmegen. Enjoy this time on board and take stock of all the things we have seen. We arrive in Nijmegen during the late evening.
Day 7 - Friday: Amsterdam
During the morning we arrive in Utrecht, starting point for the excursions to the Keukenhof and to North Holland. 3rd April – 1st May. Every spring the Keukenhof Gardens are a feast for the eyes, as millions of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are in full flower in this 32 hectare park set against a magnificent background of modern and tradtional landscape architecture. From 8th May onwards. The excursion to North Holland – a long peninsula between the North Sea and the Ijsselmeer - takes you to the Open Air Museum at Zaanse Schans, which has a collection of traditional wooden buildings, attractive gardens, small bridges, craftsmen’s workshops, old windmills and inviting small shops. Cheesmakers and shoemakers demonstrate their traditional craft. We call in at the „cheese town“ of Edam, before returning to the ship.
The ship arrives in Amsterdam during the morning. After lunch we invite you to join us on a tour of this vibrant city, which includes a visit to the Rijksmuseum. Amsterdam is a city linked to the North Sea by a canal, protected from flooding by a dam and dissected by a series of canals.
During the evening we invite you to a canal cruise through the centre of Amsterdam.
Day 8 - Saturday: Disembarkation in Amsterdam
It is time to say farewell to the ship after a final Breakfast on board. You will disembark from your ship with many happy memories as your individual onward journey commences.
