This the newest vessel operating on the upper reaches of the Mekong in Laos, the Mekong Explorer entered service in early 2010. With her shallow draft and strong steel hull, the Mekong Explorer traverses the wild section to the north of Luang Prabang and up towards the border with Thailand. The vessel has 16 cabins spread accross two decks. There is a large observation deck with comfortable sitting chairs and a covered service bar. The restaurant and main bar are on the upper deck and a range of Lao, Thai and Asian dishes are served, along with international style cuisine. All shore based excursions are with experience, English speaking local guides

ACCOMMODATIONS
The Mekong Explorer features 16 cabins on two decks. There are eight 'classic cabins' and four 'junior suites' on the main deck, while on the upper deck there are two 'junior suites' and two suites. All cabins feature large picture windows with floor to ceiling doors which can be opened to a 'french balcony'. The two main suites have their own private balcony. All cabins are in a twin bed configuration, feature private facilities and are air conditioned.
DINING
The restaurant and main bar are on the upper deck and a range of Lao, Thai and Asian dishes are served, along with international style cuisine. Local and an international selection of wines, beers and soft drinks are available, as well as bottled mineral water.
